I’m a Digital Learning Consultant at Region 10 Education Service Center in Dallas, and I’m constantly seeking to improve my own understanding and skills in the areas of instructional design, adult learning, purposeful and effective technology use, and accessibility. I have the opportunity to work with and learn from educators across the northeast Texas area, and my smart colleagues push my thinking daily!
Previously, I was a librarian and then a Digital Learning Specialist in Plano ISD, designing instruction for educators at 72 campuses in the area of instructional technology. As an ISTE Standards expert, having served on the team that developed ISTE’s new and exciting ISTE Certified Educator program, I focus on pedagogy, not tools.
I am passionate about digital citizenship and was privileged to speak at the 2nd annual Digital Citizenship Summit at Twitter Headquarters in 2016. I also served as co-chair of ISTE’s Digital Citizenship PLN for 2017-2018 and am one of two authors of ISTE-Metiri’s PD Curriculum for the Digital Citizen student standard. Check out my Digital Citizenship app, a way for teachers to have at their fingertips lots of one-sentence-a-day talking points for #DigCit.
During my pursuit of my second Master’s degree (M.Ed in Digital Learning and Leading), I conceived and launched CLICK, a website of student-created technology tips. I am a Google Certified Educator and a Google Certified Trainer. And I’m most excited about that Google Innovator badge (thanks to my CLICK project), completing the Google quadfecta. There are currently fewer than 2200 Google Innovators worldwide, and I am proud to be among them.
In addition to my daily work as a professional development facilitator, I have designed and delivered presentations on a variety of topics at Region 4, Region 10, ASCD-Texas, Texas Google Summit, TCEA, TLA, and ISTE. View some of the feedback I’ve received here.
